《中国教育改革和发展纲要》非常明确地提出:中小学要由应试教育转向全面提高国民素质的轨道,面向全体学生,面向提高学生的思想品德、文化科学、劳动技能和身体素质,促进学生生动活泼地发展。英语教学中,学生“听、说、读、写”四大技能的训练是教师教学的重点,教学中如何使学生的技能培养达到最佳效果,是身为英语教师必须要思考的问题。在这个方面多媒体发挥了很好的作用。多媒体教学是一种新型现代化教学方式,也是未来世界教育技术的新趋向,它具有形象性、多样性、新颖性、直观性、丰富性、趣味性等特点。它不但能激发学生课堂的学习兴趣,也可以改变许多学生被动学习英语的状态,变被动为主动,在最大程度上提高学生的四大语言技能。

近年来,随着教学改革的不断深入,新课程标准的制订,教材也日趋完善,相应的对于英语老师的要求也日益提高。其中掌握多媒体教学技术已经成为英语教学的必要技能。许多教师早已意识到这一点并且已经广泛利用多媒体辅助教学。在课堂教学中适当地使用多媒体技术,创设合理情境,不但可以解决英语教学中视听形式单一的问题,也增加了课堂的趣味性,并提高学生的学习兴趣。当然,多媒体教学虽然具有许多传统教学手段所不具备的优点,但在如何合理运用多媒体进行课堂教学方面也依然存在许多有待解决的问题。以下笔者将就多媒体在英语课堂教学方面的运用这方面的问题谈几点体会。

一、多媒体教学在初中英语教学中的优点

1.创设情境,营造语言氛围,激发学生学习的兴趣

“兴趣是最好的老师。”一堂内容丰富、形式多样、设计巧妙的课能很好地唤起学生学习的兴趣。学生在浓厚兴趣的驱使下能激发内在的学习要求,更积极主动地参与教学活动,从而使一堂课堂的教学效果达到最佳。学生学习兴趣的提高往往离不开生动形象的教育素材。多媒体正是具有形声、动画兼备的优点,在创设情境、营造氛围方面比其他媒体来得更直接、更有效。因而可以让教学效果在最大程度上达到最佳。这点在英语课堂教学上尤为突出。英语不是中国学生的母语,语言环境缺乏是学习英语的一大障碍。初中英语是学生英语学习的初始阶段。如何让学生在学习的初始阶段就能够对学习有很大兴趣并且一直保持下去,这就要求英语教师在备课过程中必须很好地创设情境,营造英语氛围。如英语课本中有许多生活场景,如购物、看病、举办美食节等,直接切入主题会使课堂衔接显得牵强生硬,学生也未必会有兴趣了解。这时就可以在lead in阶段运用多媒体技术,如通过幻灯图片展示,简单的Flash等,创设一定场景,逐步引入主题,这样就能很好地解决这个问题。以八年级下册Unit 7 Topic 3 Welcome to our food festival一单元为例。为什么要举办美食节,国外学生都是如何举办美食节,准备了哪些食品以及如何准备。笔者通过要点之间的联系逐步展示关于美食节的相关图片,学生注意力一下子被吸引了,也很自然地融入到举办美食节的氛围中来。通过这种方式笔者成功地将话题引到课文的对话内容上。这样开始的话题就显得比较自然。另外英语课文中也涉及不少对英美国家特色的了解及电影,音乐的介绍。只是纯粹让学生看课文内容,学习知识点,一堂课将会变得十分枯燥无味。如果在课堂中融入多媒体技术,就可以将相关语言文化背景通过音乐、动画甚至是一些电影片段展现出来,学生印象更深刻,效果也大大提高。

2.使用多媒体教学,将教学形式多样化

传统的英语教学模式,教师以知识灌输为主,传统的教学用具,也就是纸质图片、录音机而已。教师的教学过程以听音、跟读、讲解为主,形式单一。这样的课堂枯燥无味,学生记忆效果差,不少学生因此有了“英语认识我而我不认识它”的感慨。多媒体技术的教学手段可以丰富教学形式,摆脱枯燥的课堂教学。如初一英语教学,教师可以融入歌曲、动画,初二或初三的英语教学内容则可以辅助以简单的英语短片或英语电影。学生在听歌和看电影的过程中不知不觉地就锻炼了听、读等技能,对知识点在实际语境中的运用也有了直观且深刻的认识。教师甚至可以设计让学生根据英语短片对白进行配音,这样也可以提高学生说英语的能力。如八年级下册Unit 5中涉及英国经典电影The sound of music。笔者除了在课堂上让学生观看The sound of music的电影片段,也尝试用上述方法让学生根据电影的简单对白进行片段配音。学生兴趣很高。这样做不但加深了学生的印象和对课文的理解,也进一步培养了学生的语言能力。这样的英语课堂学生不再只是听和跟读,而是拥有听、看、说、唱等各种各样的形式。教师借助多媒体,改变一成不变的教学形式,学生的学习过程也会变得愉快,记忆更深刻,效果也更好。
